When & Where
Tzu Chi Foundation
Tzu Chi Foundation was established in 1966 by Venerable Dharma Master Cheng Yen, who was named by TIME Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in year 2011. The magazine paid particular attention to Tzu Chi's work in Japan after it was struck by the devastating earthquake and tsunami on March 11. While many organizations were still deciding on how to help, the volunteers of Tzu Chi already went to the front line of the affected areas to distribute relief goods and comfort those who had lost their homes and their loved ones.
